Aaron Schaffer

Aaron Schaffer is a researcher on The Washington Post’s News Research team.

He loves digging through documents like government contracts, financial disclosures, and archived correspondence for stories.

Before becoming a researcher at The Post, Aaron was an assistant editor. He helped edited The Post’s Early 202 newsletter and also edited The Cybersecurity 202 newsletter. Aaron also worked as a researcher for the Cybersecurity 202 and Technology 202 newsletters. He previously studied investigative journalism as a student in American University’s Journalism and Public Affairs master’s program.

Aaron used to work at Al-Monitor, a news organization covering the Middle East and North Africa, from 2016 to 2020. In 2020, he received a Best in Business Award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) for a newsletter on Middle East lobbying.
